Centers Using Technology

January 30, 2013 · Filed under: Instructional Delivery Using Technology

Centers are an amazing way to differentiate instruction, to spiral previously taught skills and to allow students to use their creativity through numerous activities and/or games.  The difficulty lies with the time required to design each center and then create the materials.  Centers can be very time consuming but are a marvelous classroom strategy.

With the addition of technology to the classroom, the burden of creating and maintaining hard copy materials for each center can be minimized by using computers in a 1:1 setting or in a center.  All of the materials can be transferred by the teacher to the students and then retrieved in exactly the same transfer system.  Additionally, all of the materials can be stored on the district's drives for use or revision for the next year.  The teacher's time and involvement is reduced.
TCES provides training for the development of centers supported by technology as well as providing equipment that enables students to work in a center and develop any designated product.
